New API from Twitter is only available at the free, basic, and enterprise tiers.

Twitter's new API pricing structures were eventually published on Wednesday after the company dragged its feet for many weeks. These three levels consist of a free level with very few features that is primarily designed for content posting bots, a basic level that costs one hundred dollars per month, and an expensive enterprise level. According to the announcement made by the corporation, users who subscribe at any level are granted free access to the Advertising API.

Twitter has announced that it would stop offering older access levels, such as Standard (for version 1.1), Essential and Elevated (for version 2), and Premium, within the next thirty days. These access levels include: Standard (for version 1.1).

The drama around Twitter's application programming interface (API) began when the company stated in February that it would stop providing free API access in a few short days. Elon Musk responded to the widespread criticism by announcing that the business would provide a free tier for bots that produce "excellent content." In a later paragraph, it was said that the base tier would begin at $100 per month, but no other information on the access level was provided. The announcement that the launch will be postponed by "a few more days" was made by the corporation on February 13th. After a delay of more than 45 days, the corporation at last disseminated information about the newly released APIs.

The new API offering seems to be an attempt to steal customers' money. Together with access to Login with Twitter, the free tier only allows for 1,500 post requests per month to be submitted. The "for hobbyists or students" basic tier offers 50,000 post requests and 10,000 read requests per app per month. This tier is intended for users who are not professional developers. If developers want access to a greater amount of data, they will be need to apply for corporate access, which is said to cost an astounding $42,000 per month.

Until the launch of v2 in 2020, Twitter provided developers with a variety of access tiers, such as Essential and Elevated, which granted them access to between 500,000 and 2 million tweets on a monthly basis. App developers who fit under that type of use must now subscribe to the enterprise plan in order to continue their business.

Upon trying to subscribe to the new basic tier, several developers discovered that they had already reached the limit for their account.

When Twitter made the decision to stop providing free access to its application programming interface (API) a month ago, TechCrunch reported that many researchers and academics were concerned that the move would hinder student projects and the transparent appearance of the platform that was achieved through data.

Twitter has made a fresh statement in which it states that it is "looking at new methods" to assist the academic community. Nevertheless, the company has not provided any details on possible solutions. The business continued by saying that although they are attempting to define the academic use tier, researchers are free to subscribe to the free, basic, or enterprise levels of the service. It's possible that academics won't find the free and basic levels useful, and the business tier could be out of reach financially for projects with constrained funds.

The developer community has been estranged from Twitter as a result of its actions over the last several months. A number of developer-related initiatives were terminated by the firm in the last year, including the Twitter Toolbox for app discovery; in addition, a number of other projects remain in a dormant status. The firm stopped working with third-party customers in January without providing any explanation or clear communication. Later on, it quietly altered its developer conditions in order to prevent third-party Twitter applications from functioning.
