Google Calendar Introduces Task Scheduling to Boost Productivity
Different people organize their work in different ways. Some rely on simple to-do lists, while others prefer structured scheduling tools. To support users who like to plan their work hours precisely, Google has introduced a useful new feature in Google Calendar: the ability to schedule dedicated time blocks for specific tasks.
With this update, you can now reserve time on your calendar to work on individual tasks, complete with descriptions, visibility controls, and Do Not Disturb preferences. This addition makes task-focused planning easier and eliminates the need to create fake “meetings” just to block time — a workaround many users have depended on for years.
The feature first appeared for Google’s Rapid Release domains earlier this month. Standard Release domains will begin receiving it gradually starting December 1. Once available, it will be enabled by default for all users — both Workspace customers and personal Google account holders.
